‘Fight Club’ star Brad Pitt admitted to GQ that he might have an undiagnosed ailment that makes it difficult for him to recognise people, also known as prosopagnosia.

Prosopagnosia is a neurological illness that impairs face recognition.

In an interview with the magazine, Pitt spoke honestly about the possible illness and said that it might have affected his reputation. Pitt acknowledged that he had trouble remembering new people and recalling their appearances. Pitt is not formally diagnosed yet.

The actor stated that his condition bothers him because he fears that it may create the impression that he is “remote and aloof, inaccessible, and self-absorbed” to those who come into contact with him.

People with prosopagnosia have difficulty identifying their partners, acquaintances, or relatives. Some of them even cognitively record a person’s voice, haircut, attire, and even how they move in order to identify them.

Some people even struggle to recognise their own faces when they look in the mirror. Additionally, they might not be able to distinguish between different facial expressions or determine a person’s age and gender.

Prosopagnosia patients are more likely to develop a social anxiety disorder, which is defined as an immense fear of social situations. This may make it difficult for them to form healthy relationships and may even have an effect on their careers.

As of now, there is no specific treatment for the condition. Scientists and researchers are still working on ways to improve facial recognition in people with prosopagnosia.

On the work front, Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton will work together on a ‘Formula 1’ film.

The Indian premiere of Brad Pitt’s next movie ‘Bullet Train’ is scheduled for August 5, 2022. Along with Pitt, key roles are played by Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and others. In addition, he is producing a few additional movies that will be released this year.
