At Billboard Latin awards 2022, Christina Aguilera will receive Billboard Spirit of Hope award for her significant charitable and humanitarian efforts. Aside from her musical achievements, she has advocated against domestic violence, been a firm supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, promoted HIV/AIDS research, and traveled the world to feed children in impoverished areas.

The global pop star will also be gracing the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage with her special performance.

Billboard dedicated the Spirit of Hope award during the second annual Latin Awards in 1995 in honour of Selena, who complimented her exceptional recording career with charitable endeavours and activities. Billboard created the Spirit of Hope to honour those music talents who dedicate time and effort to civic, communal, and humanitarian groups. The Billboard editorial committee decides the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gloria Estefan, a Cuban American singer, was first given the Spirit of Hope Award in 1996. The Billboard Latin Music Awards have featured the Spirit of Hope Award since 1996. In the years 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021, the award was not given out.

The Billboard Spirit of Hope Award has been given to 22 artists since it was established 26 years ago in memory of the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, including Gloria Estefan, who has received the honor twice (1996, 2011), and Mana (2000, 2013). Shakira, Daddy Yankee, El General, Emmanuel, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra, Los Tigres del Norte, Luis Fonsi, Maná, Marc Anthony, Olga Taón, Ricardo Montaner, Ricky Martin, and Willy Chirino are just a few examples of artists who have won the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award in the past. 

On September 29th at 7 pm EST / 11 pm GMT, Telemundo will broadcast live coverage of the prestigious awards show from the Watsco Center in MiamiFlorida. The highly anticipated event will also be simultaneously broadcast on Telemundo International, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and Universo, a Hispanic entertainment cable channel, in Latin America and the Caribbean.
