Denise Russo, who became famous after starring in VH1’s reality show, The X-Life died at the age of 44 after she was found unresponsive Sunday on the floor of a friend’s home in San Diego.

Susie Stenberg, Russo’s friend, and former The X-Life castmate told TMZ after Russo’s death that the latter was homeless and living in her car at the time of her death. Russo reached out to her just the night before to tell her she loved her. Stenberg added that Russo was “the most loving and loyal person.”

What was Denise Russo’s last Instagram post?

However, if one looks at Russo’s Instagram page, it is hard to tell if she was struggling financially. She has over 2,000 followers on Instagram, which is mostly filled with her own selfies as well as photos of her son. Her last photo was a selfie of hers where she was pouting at the camera. “Always pouting!” she captioned the casual post.

While most of her photos were taken inside what seems to be homes, some of them show her driving a car along with her son. She was one of the candidates competing to be on the cover of Inked Magazine and in one of her posts she wrote, “Hugs and kisses! Please remember to vote on February 6th at 12 pm Est for me as the next Inked Cover Girl! The link is in my bio! Thanks and lots of love to all of you!”

She was part of one of the three couples on VH1’s reality show, The X-Life which aired in 2011. It followed the lives of extreme sports athletes and their partners. At the time Russo was dating professional skateboarder Pierre-Luc Gagnon. They had a son together but have since broken up.

According to TMZ, drug paraphernalia was found at the scene of her death. Attempts to resuscitate her by the first responders went in vain and she eventually was pronounced dead.
