Scott Baio -the actor best known for playing Chachi Arcola in the movie Happy Days- announced that he has relocated to Florida after 45 years of living in California. The actor and his wife Renee Baio earlier said that they are leaving California due to the state homeless crisis and crime. They recently confirmed that they are now happy Floridians.
According to the Herald-Tribune, Renee Baio confirmed that the couple is residing in their owned condo. A new house at Bradenton is in the process of being completed and the duo would move their as soon as it is done, Renee said.
“I chose Manatee County for various reasons,” Renee said to the aforementioned news outlet.
“It’s close to Anna Maria Island, Siesta Key, and I love the small town feel and values of Manatee County and I support mom-and-pop businesses and would like to keep them thriving,” she added.
On Wednesday of last week, the actor declared his intention to relocate his family from California because of the state’s escalating homelessness issue, which he believes “reduces property value,” and labeled it as “an unsafe place.”

“After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally “exit stage right” from California,” the 62-year-old actor had said in a tweet, announcing his decision to leave California.
“I’ve been in California a very, very long time, and it’s so sad to me. I’ve got family, and I’ve got friends there, and I didn’t want to leave, but I’ve been pretty much forced out,” Baio said, complaining that the increasing crime rate in California had turned his Woodland Hills home into a “third world country.”
He had purchased the home for $1.85 million in 2010 and listed it last month for $3.85 million.

As revealed in a follow-up tweet, Baio has another home in Florida, apart from the one in Bradenton where the couple will move shortly, once final bits of construction are completed.
“I have two in Florida and I love them both!,” Baio had said in response to a comment by a Floridian who said that they did not enjoy living in the state.
