With the trailer release of  The Witcher season 2, a persistent question about the whereabouts of Yennefer of Vengerberg has gained momentum. The teaser trailer confirmed the return of Yennefer and her imprisonment by the Nilfgaardian army. But where was she actually taken to? Well, all of that to be answered in upcoming season which is scheduled to release on December 17, 2021.

However, there are some theories that gives us a brief idea where exactly can Yennefer be in season 2. The Witcher book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski was adapted into a movie and TV show in Poland in 2001 and 2002, but it wasn%u2019t until 2019 when an English adaptation arrived thanks to Netflix. This version of The Witcher focuses on three prime characters, whose stories are set in different places and points in time, with their paths converging towards the end of season 1. These characters are Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), the title witcher; Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), a powerful sorceress; and Ciri (Freya Allan), the crown princess of Cintra who is bound to Geralt by the Law of Surprise.

The last episode of season 1 ended on a cliffhanger as Yennefer suddenly disappeared from the battlefield. Yennefer joined the Battle of Sodden Hill to defend Cintra from the attack of the Nilfgaardian army, for which she channeled all her chaos (or magic) to create a massive stream of fire to attack the enemy%u2019s army. However, this was too much for Yennefer and she disappeared from the battlefield, leaving viewers and the characters close to her confused.

The fact that Yennefer didn’t die was validated in the first look pictures and the trailer release by Netflix’s The Witcher. In the trailer, she briefly appears right at the end. If we go by the pictures, then Yennefer is found by Fringilla, and it%u2019s assumed that she was taken prisoner as the images showed her shackled. In the trailer, Tissaia de Vries (MyAnna Buring) is shown looking for her on the battlefield, but if Fringilla and the Nilfgaardian army found her, she shouldn%u2019t have been too far from there.

Yennefer is shown in a forest, so perhaps she ended up far enough from the battlefield for Tissaia and company not finding her but she apparently happened to be on the Nilfgaardian army%u2019s way. It is also possible that she was found by Fringilla and company before Tissaia and the rest and they took her with her, as a bonfire can be seen behind Fringilla, suggesting they are already far from the battlefield and on their way back to Nilfgaard.

Prior to the release of the trailer, it was speculated that Yennefer could have been caught by the Wild Hunt, a group of specters riding on undead horses galloping across the sky and considered an omen of war. The Wild Hunt learn about Ciri and her powers and target her for her Elder Blood, so this theory wasn%u2019t that unlikely to be true.
