A spokesman called the visit “a precautionary measure”, adding: “Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”

Although he is to remain under observation in his own home, John has not canceled any of his upcoming engagements. Sir Elton was joined in France by his husband David Furnish.
