Legendary musician Sir Elton John spent the night in the hospital on August 27 after suffering a fall in his French Riviera home in Nice.
The 76-year-old singer was treated overnight for minor injuries at the orthopedic department of Princess Grace hospital center in Monaco. A spokesman called the visit “a precautionary measure”, adding: “Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”
Although he is to remain under observation in his own home, John has not canceled any of his upcoming engagements. Sir Elton was joined in France by his husband David Furnish.

Who are Zachary and Elijah Furnish-John?
Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John are Elton John and David Furnish’s children, born via surrogacy. Zachary was born in California on 25 December, 2010, and Elijah was born via the same surrogate on January 13, 2013. While the couple maintained an excellent relationship with their surrogate, her identity has been kept hidden in the interest of privacy.
The couple released a statement upon Zachary’s birth, reading “We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment…we are very proud and happy parents.”
On welcoming their second son Elijah in 2013 the couple said, “It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.”
The boys are avid fans of soccer, often attending Watford FC games with John, who acted as their chair from 1976 to 2002. In 2022 they were welcomed on stage by their fathers and godmother Lady Gaga at the Oscars Viewing Party. Furnish recounted how their sons were keen to get involved in the planning of the event since Sir Elton was on tour.
While the boys have been raised away from the public eye, John has spoken about them on numerous occasions. On his 75th birthday, the singer marked the milestone by writing a letter to his sons that was published in Time magazine.
In it, John shared cherished memories, advice, and affirmed his love, writing, “Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I have ever been given. You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I didn’t think were possible. You are my proudest achievements, and I love you both so, so much.”
