The Welsh comic hip-hop ensemble Goldie Lookin Chain has made Football Football Football available as their unofficial World Cup anthem.
Football, football, football is all that is sung again in the catchy song, and in the music video, the band is shown gathering fans as they stroll through Newport.

The song’s lyrics are conveniently translated into several languages at the bottom of the screen, including the Welsh “pêl-droed, pêl-droed, pêl-droed.”
Prior to Wales’s match against the USA, which will mark the first time in 64 years that the Welsh squad will compete in the World Cup, the Welsh anthem was made public.
During the group stage matches in Qatar, the Welsh team will compete against England, the United States, and Iran.
Wales fans will undoubtedly enjoy Goldie Lookin Chain’s new song, but the team has decided to choose Yma o Hyd by Dafydd Iwan as their official hymn.

Who are Goldie Lookin Chain?
South-east Wales’ Newport is home to the Welsh comic hip-hop ensemble Goldie Lookin Chain. The group writes hilarious, contentious, and frequently graphic songs that poke fun at hip-hop, the consumer society of today, the “chav” culture, and everyday life in Newport and South Wales.
Six albums were made by the trio before they were signed to a major record label. They made a deal with The Darkness’ record label, East West Records. When members of The Darkness played the band’s songs while on tour, label boss Korda Marshall became aware of them.

In the later parts of The Darkness’s UK tour, GLC continued to provide support. The ensemble belongs to a time period known as Cool Cymru because Welsh music and art were so well-liked abroad during that time.
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) invited GLC to provide a performance in 2005 before Wales’ World Cup qualification match against England at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. Given the band’s musical style and the presence of England star David Beckham at the game, it may not come as a surprise that they dedicated Your Missus Is a Nutter to the footballer about his wife, Victoria Beckham.
The subsequent uproar led many to wonder why the organisers, knowing of the band’s notoriety, had even agreed to have them perform in the first place. The Welsh football authorities were forced to apologise to the Beckhams (despite David Beckham seeming to take the joke in good humour). On This Feeling TV in January 2009, GLC made further disclosures concerning the incident.
Since the group’s formation in the early 2000s, Newport County, their hometown football team, has been a strong supporter of them. Throughout the team’s 2004–2005 season, GLC sponsored the uniform. The club’s GLC-sponsored shirt was worn for two league games, away to Maidenhead United and at home against Redbridge F.C., although being originally intended primarily for use in FAW Premier Cup fixtures. The county was drawn away against similarly coloured Caernarfon Town in the cup. Together with Hummel, they created Newport’s third uniform in 2021.
