Akshay Kumar‘s surprise film Cuttputli will debut on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2 as a direct-to-OTT release. The movie is a crime thriller about the search for a serial killer, and the teaser is a collection of Akshay’s stills from it. Akshay portrays a police officer who, together with his colleagues, is on a quest to apprehend the offender and uses a novel approach to achieve so. Fans of the actor are shocked that he produced a second film while no one was aware of it.

Who is Akshay Kumar?

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia (born September 9, 1967), better known as Akshay Kumar, is a Hindi film actor and producer. Kumar has appeared in over 100 films and won several awards, including a National Film Award for Best Actor and two Filmfare Awards. Kumar is one of Hindi cinema’s most prolific actors. Almost half of his films were commercially successful.

Kumar was born in Amritsar, Punjab to Punjabi parents Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia. His father was a military officer. Kumar was always interested in sports since he was a child. His father, like him, enjoyed wrestling.

He grew up in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk before moving to Mumbai when his father left the army to work as an accountant for UNICEF. His sister was born soon after, and the family settled in Koliwada, a Punjabi-dominated area of Central Bombay. He attended Don Bosco High School in Matunga and studied Karate at the same time. He enrolled in Guru Nanak Khalsa College for higher education but dropped out.

The Conservative government awarded Kumar Canadian citizenship either during or after the 2011 Canadian federal election by citing a little-known rule that permitted getting around the standard residency requirement for immigrants to Canada. The citizenship was granted in exchange for Kumar’s promise to utilise his “star power to enhance Canada-Indian relations.” 

He was listed by Forbes as the most paid Bollywood actor in 2020. In 2008, the University of Windsor awarded him an honorary doctorate, and he also earned the fourth-highest Indian civic accolade, the Padma Shri (2009).

Kumar began his career with Saugandh in 1991. His first commercial success was the action thriller Khiladi (1992), which spawned a film series of the same name. Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dhadkan (2000), Andaaz (2003), and Namastey London are some of his romantic films (2007). He has appeared in comedies such as Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), and Singh Is Kinng (2008). (2008).

Kumar received Filmfare Awards for Ajnabee (2001) and Garam Masala (2001). (2005). He won the National Film Award for best actor in the thriller Rustom after receiving positive reviews for Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015), and Airlift (2016).

On January 17, 2001, Kumar married Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. They have a son and a daughter together.
