Julie Powell, the author of Julie & Julia has died at the age of 49. Amy Adam played the role of Julie in the 2009 movie Julie & Julia. In the film, she attempted to cook the cookbook’s 524 dishes while also blogging about the experience.

This movie has its uniqueness because it is the first motion picture based on a blog. The film received many positive reviews, particularly for Adams’ and Streep’s performances. 

Amy Adams will also return onscreen with a sweet fairy tale character Giselle in Disney’s Disenchanted.

Who is Amy Adams?

Amy Adams is an American actress born on August 20, 1974. She was the youngest of six siblings and was raised in Colorado, United States. Amy attended Douglas County High School and from early childhood she had a special interest in creative arts and Amy was also a part of the school choir. She was trained in ballet dancing and gymnastics by the David Taylor Dance Company.  At the age of 18, Adam discovered that she lacked the talent to pursue a career as a professional ballerina dancer and that musical theater interested her more.

Amy Adams Career 

Amy Adam started her career by acting in theater and later she got her first major break in 1999 in a Fox television series Cruel Intentions. Thereafter she appeared in films like The Chromium Hook and Drop Dead Gorgeous. She earned major recognition when she appeared in the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

Within the next two years she again returned to television and worked on a series, Dr. Vegas (2004). In 2005, she acted in the low-budget independent film Junebug and won an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress along with many other awards. 

Adams then made a prominent appearance in Charlie Wilson’s War (2007) before acting in Sunshine Cleaning (2008), an independent film that had its world premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. She received nominations for a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild award, and a British Academy Film award for her performance as Sister James in the 2008 film Doubt and that film also earned her a second Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2016, she reprised the role of Lane in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and in the same year she also starred in Tom Ford’s suspenseful thriller Nocturnal Animals and Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction drama Arrival.  She also appeared opposite Christian Bale in the biographical drama Vice and this film marked her sixth Oscar nomination.

Apart from being an actor, she is also a philanthropist and supports the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that helps troubled LGBTQ teenagers.
