In a court petition on Tuesday, Angelina Jolie provided more details about the dissolution of their marriage and described what she called Brad Pitt’s abusive behaviour. The court declaration further intensified the legal argument around a French winery the former couple once owned.

Pitt allegedly tried to get Jolie to sign a nondisclosure agreement before she sold her portion of the vineyard, barring her from speaking out about “Pitt’s physical and emotional abuse of her and their children,” according to a document filed in a Los Angeles court.

Who is Brad Pitt?

William Bradley Pitt, an American actor, and producer, was born on December 18, 1963. In addition to two Academy Awards, a British Academy Film Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award, he has also received several honours.

Pitt initially came to public attention in the Ridley Scott road movie Thelma & Louise as a cowboy hitchhiker. The drama films A River Runs Through It and Legends of the Fall, as well as the horror movie Interview with the Vampire, gave him his first prominent parts in high-profile projects.

He delivered critically lauded performances in the science fiction movie 12 Monkeys and the criminal thriller Seven, both directed by David Fincher. With the latter, he received his first Academy Award nomination and the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe Award.

Pitt had more commercial success as the lead in Steven Soderbergh’s heist movie Ocean’s Eleven, and he returned for its follow-ups. In blockbusters like the historical epic Troy, the romantic crime drama Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the horror movie World War Z, and the action movie Bullet Train, he solidified his position as a leading man.

Pitt was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in Moneyball and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and he won one for his work as a stuntman in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Pitt co-founded the production business Plan B Entertainment in 2001. While other films including The Tree of Life, Moneyball, Selma, and The Big Short were nominated for the award, he produced The Departed, 12 Years a Slave, and Moonlight, all of which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
