BTSRM, who is also the leader of the South Korean boy band, is coming out with an album of his own called Indigo. The tracklist for the same has also been released, and featured artists on the record include Anderson.Paak, Paul Blanco, Mahalia, Colde, Tablo, and others.

Indigo is the first solo album from RM. He has earlier released two mixed tapes titled RM (2015) and Mono (2018).

Who is RM?

RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, was born in Dongjak District, Seoul, on September 12, 1994. He has a younger sister. RM became proficient in English by watching the sitcom Friends. He also pursued poetry as a child and published his works on online forums. At the age of 12, RM went to New Zealand where he studied for four months.

RM studied at the Apgujeong High School and later enrolled into the Global Cyber University for his higher studies. He had scored 148 in an IQ test at school, which made his mother ask him to focus on studies instead of music. However, RM convinced her that it was better to become the best rapper rather than an average student. Eminem was one of his major influences during his formative days.

Big Hit Entertainment signed RM in 2010 after rapper Sleepy spoke about him to the label’s producer, Pdogg. After signing onto the label. Pdogg and RM wanted to form a group, and this is when they met eventual BTS members, Suga and J-Hope.

O!RUL8,2?, which released in 2013. was the first extended play record released by BTS. The song was sung by RM. In 2014, BTS released their first studio album, Dark & Wild, where the first track, Intro: What Am I to You, was also sung by RM.

After the album’s release, BTS shot to fame and soon found himself on a reality TV show called Problematic Men. He also befriended Warren G during this time. The duo went on to release a single called P.D.D (Please Don’t Die) soon after.

RM has since then released his solo mixtapes along with four Korean-language albums and four Japanese-language albums with BTS. 

The rapper lives in Seoul’s Hannam-dong along with his bandmates. He has two other properties in South Korea. He is a philanthropist and regularly donates money to many charitable causes.
