Casey Nicholaw has won his first choreography Tony Award for his work on the new musical Some Like It Hot.
Nicholaw began his career on Broadway as a performer, making his debut in Crazy For You. He began choreographing on Broadway next with Spamalot and then began directing with The Drowsy Chaperone. He has worked on a number of Broadway shows as director/choreographer including Elf, The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!, Mean Girls, and The Prom to name a few.

With 13 Tony nominations and a previous win for Best Direction, Nicholaw takes home his first Tony win for Best Choreography. Nicholaw won Best Direction of a Musical for The Book of Mormon, for which he was also nominated for Best Choreography. His other Tony-nominated choreography includes Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone, Aladdin, and Mean Girls.
As a director, Nicholaw received a 2023 Tony nomination for Some Like It Hot. His Broadway credits as a choreographer also include The Prom, Tuck Everlasting, Something Rotten!, Elf, and All About Me; 21 shows comprise Nicholaw’s Broadway career to date.
