Will Smith on Friday apologized to comedian Chris Rock for slapping him onstage during the Oscars 2022. In a new video, the 53-year-old actor said behavior was “unacceptable” and also apologised to the comedian’s mother, Rose Rock.

“I saw an interview that his mother did. That’s one of the things about that moment I didn’t realize, I wasn’t thinking, but how many people got hurt in that moment.  So I want to apologize to Chris’s mother; I want to apologize to Chris’s family, specifically Tony Rock [Chris’s younger brother]. We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. This is probably irreparable,” he said in the video, which was the first time he addressed the controversy for the first time on camera since the incident.

How did Rose Rock react to the controversy-

Rose Rock appeared for an interview on local South Carolina news station WIS-TV where she addressed the controversy.

“When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me,” she said. “Because when you hurt my child, you hurt me,” she said.

“You really could have gotten taken out in handcuffs. You didn’t think. You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye, and you went up, and you made her day because she was bowled over laughing when it happened,” she added.
