Former ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star
Christopher Michael Harty was taken into custody from a Miami apartment on
Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. Harty, who goes by the
name Prince, facing multiple charges including domestic violence with
battery and kidnapping.

The
31-year-old and his girlfriend began dating in May 2020 and the alleged
incident took place on July 22, 2021. Police told local media that the woman
allegedly went to Harty’s apartment to drop off his shoes and threw
them at him when he opened the door.

In
a fit of rage, Harty pulled the woman inside the residence by her backpack and
assaulted her. He reportedly slammed her to the floor and repeatedly punched
her in the mouth. The accused also reportedly smacked the victim in the back of
the head with an open hand and dragged her by her hair, because of which she
couldn’t escape. 

The
woman eventually managed to rush out of the apartment, which was on the 14th
floor. Just when she was about to enter the elevator, Harty tried to take her
back to his apartment. The victim managed to break free from his grasp. She
rushed to the lobby area and called the police.

The
responding officers noticed minor scratches and bruises on several parts of her
body and face. 

Harty
appeared in court on Thursday morning and was ordered held in lieu of a $25,000
bond.

According to reports, just hours before his arrest on Wednesday, Harty told his Instagram followers about his desire to have children. He was also supposed to appear at a press conference for an “official celebrity boxing” event on Wednesday night.

Who is Christopher Michael Harty?

Born to Jamaican parents in South Miami, Harty was jailed for two years in a juvenile facility while he was growing up before turning up homeless. He was then arrested several times between 2010 and 2013 for theft, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

After struggling for years, Harty landed a job with event promotion company Varsity LG, following which he appeared on the reality show ‘Love & Hip Hop’ for two seasons. He continued to create rap music even after leaving the show and released several albums, including the recent one that released only two months ago.
