Academy Award winner, actress, and
singer Irene Cara passed away on Friday, November 25, aged 63 in her Florida
home. The reason for her death is yet unknown.

Her publicist announced the news via Cara’s
official social media handle, writing, “It is with profound sadness that on
behalf of her family, I announce the passing of Irene Cara.” She also asked for
privacy as her family processes the grief. “She was a beautifully gifted soul
whose legacy will live forever through her music and films”, she wrote.

The singer, who won an Academy Award
and a Grammy Award for her song Flashdance…What a Feeling, was also an actor known
for her role as Coco Hernandez in the 1980 musical drama Fame.

Irene Cara was married to stuntman and
film director Conrad Palmisano from 1986 till their divorce in 1991.

Who is Conrad E. Palmisano?

Conrad
E. Palmisano was born on May 1, 1944, in Santa Rosa, California. The 78-year-old
is an American stuntman and film director.

Palmisano
began his career in 1970 with the American adventure TV series The Young Rebels. In
1972, he was appointed as the stunt coordinator for Oscar William’s drama film
The Final Comedown.

He
was appointed as the President of the Stuntmen’s Association of Motion Pictures
in 1980 for four seasons. He was one of the first engineers who worked towards
integrating the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in
1984.

He became known for
integrating committee-established filmmakers like Batman Forever (1995),
Assassins (1995), Rush Hour 2 (2001), After the Sunset (2004), and many others.
He was nominated for a Taurus Award for Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007).

He has also appeared in the films The Guardian (2006), Transformers: Dark of
the Moon (2001), as well as Bollywood movies Ek Tha Tiger (2012), and Dhoom 3 (2013).

Palmisano met actress
and singer Irene Cara during the filming of Certain Fury in 1985. They got
married in 1986 but got divorced five years later. In 2000 he married actress
Kathryn Anderson, who passed away in 2019.
