HyunA and Dawn the couple, who started dating in 2016, formally ended their relationship on November 30, 2022.  On Instagram, HyunA posted “We broke up. We decided to remain as good friends and colleagues. Thank you always for your support and for looking over us kindly.”

Both HyunA and Dawn left P Nation in August of this year. Following the release of engagement-related pictures on social media, the couple was previously said to be engaged.

Who is Dawn?

Kim Hyo-jong, formerly known as E’Dawn and better known as Dawn, was born on June 1, 1994, in South Korea. He is a well-known K-Pop rapper and singer-songwriter.

On July 10, 2016, Dawn made his professional acting and dancing debut with the group Pentagon under Cube Entertainment as E’Dawn. Pentagon Maker, a variety programme, helped the group come together. E’Dawn was dropped from the competition, but he was included in the group’s final lineup together with Yan An and Shinwon.

E’Dawn participated as a songwriter on the band’s Pentagon debut EP, penning the lyrics and music for the songs Lukewarm and Organic Song, respectively. Up until his departure, he continued to compose music and songs for the band, including Runaway and Shine.

On April 4, 2017, it was revealed that E’Dawn, bandmate Hui, and labelmate Hyuna would make their debuts in a new group called Triple H and star in a new show called Triple H Fun Agency. On May 1, 2017, the group released their first EP, 199X. Once more, E’Dawn provided songwriting assistance, penning all songs, including the lead hit 365 Fresh.

On the Gaon Album Chart, the album peaked at number 4, and it debuted at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. 2018 saw the release of the group’s second EP, Retro Futurism. Along with the other three songs on the album, E’Dawn contributed to the lyrics and music for the lead single Retro Future.

E’Dawn did not appear on Pentagon’s next EP, Thumbs Up!, according to Cube Entertainment, while he would still be listed as the songwriter for the songs Naughty Boy and Skateboard. This was disclosed after E’Dawn revealed his relationship with Hyuna in August 2018.

On September 13, it was revealed that Cube had cancelled the contracts of E’Dawn and Hyuna, claiming their inability to uphold trust with them. On November 14, 2018, E’Dawn’s departure from Cube and Pentagon was formally announced.

On January 23, 2018, Psy revealed on Instagram that Hyuna and E’Dawn had both signed deals with his own label, P Nation. On October 18, it was revealed that E’Dawn would make a solo comeback on November 5 with the song Money, his first under the name Dawn.

He contributed the song It’s You to the OLD X NEW (Original Television Soundtrack) album for the Late Night E-News programme on April 29, 2020.

It was revealed in September 2020 that Dawn would return with his debut EP Dawndididawn, which was made available on October 9, 2020. Fellow P Nation musician Jessi featured on the title track, Dawndididawn.

He contributed to Demian’s brand-new song LOVE% on March 3.

Dawn and Hyuna released their duet EP, 1+1=1, on September 9. On June 7, 2022, it was revealed that Dawn and Hyuna would go to the J-Rim Super Nova Festival on July 1-2, 2022.

Psy, the head of his label P NATION, unveiled a teaser image on June 8, 2022, confirming Dawn’s return on June 16, 2022, with the release of the digital single Stupid Cool.

P Nation made the announcement that both Dawn and Hyuna would be departing the business on August 29, 2022, after electing not to have their contracts renewed.

On August 2, 2018, Dawn disclosed that they have been dating since May 2016. On February 3, 2022, they announced their engagement. Hyuna announced the couple’s breakup on her Instagram page on November 30, 2022.
