Diego Luna Alexander is a Mexican actor who portrayed the role of Cassian Andor in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star War Story. He is also a director, producer, and singer. Diego Luna will voice the character of Chip in the upcoming DC League of Super Pets. 

He was born on December 29, 1979, in Toluca and raised in Mexico City. His father, Alejandro Luna is a theatre, film, and opera set designer. He reinforced the importance of arts and theatre in Diego’s life.

From an early age, he began acting in tv, movies, and theatre. He starred as Tenoch Iturbide alongside Gael Gracia Bernal in Y tu mama tambien in 2001, a Mexican road trip movie directed by Alfonso Cuaron. The role brought him international stardom. 

Luna starred in Vampires: Los Muertos in 2002. He also starred in an Oscar-winning film Frida. He appeared in Open Range, The Terminal, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Criminal, Only God Knows, Fade to Black, Milk and Elysium. He was part of Ana Lily Amirpour’s film The Bad Batch in 2015. 

He will also star in Andor. Andor is an upcoming Disney+ series revolving around the character. In December 2020, Diego confirmed that the production of the series had begun in London on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Diego directed his first movie, the biopic of Cesar Chavez in 2012. He became a member of the jury of the Un Certain Regard section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. 

Luna and Gracia Bernal co-founded Ambulante A.C., an organization and film festival working to bring documentary films to recommended places. The organization received the Washington Office on Latin America’s Human Rights Award in 2011.
