Dr Ranj Singh, a well-known figure from the popular ITV show This Morning, has recently issued a statement following the resurfacing of a photo featuring himself and Phillip Schofield’s former lover. Dr Ranj, who worked as a resident doctor on the show alongside Schofield and Holly Willoughby since 2016, left over a year ago. In his statement, he revealed that he had filed a formal complaint about an unnamed bully on the set.

The turmoil surrounding This Morning started when Schofield, 61, publicly admitted to having a relationship with a much younger runner while he was still married to Stephanie Lowe. This revelation resulted in Schofield being dropped by his agents of 35 years and The Prince’s Trust. Rumors of a fallout with his co-star Holly Willoughby have also circulated.

Dr Ranj, along with former presenter Eamonn Holmes, has been openly discussing their experiences on the long-running program. They have shed light on the culture behind the scenes, with Dr Ranj expressing concerns about toxicity and how people, including himself, were being treated. He stated that he raised his concerns directly with the top executives at ITV but hasn’t worked on the show since then.

Despite Schofield’s behavior being in the spotlight, Dr Ranj emphasized that the issues with This Morning go beyond one person. He suggested that it takes more than one individual to create a toxic culture. Dr Ranj claimed that he was “managed out” by ITV bosses after blowing the whistle on the toxic environment and the behavior of Martin Frizell, the show’s editor.

Although an external review conducted by ITV found no evidence of bullying or discrimination, Dr Ranj maintains that the issues he raised are still valid. He disclosed that he had been heavily involved in diversity, anti-bullying, and mental health projects across the channel. Dr Ranj expressed his disappointment in feeling used less and less after speaking up and feeling like he was managed out of the show.

Since leaving This Morning, Dr Ranj has ventured into various projects. He appeared in a one-off West End musical called Scrubs to Sparkles, based on his own life, and hosted the TV series Extreme Food Phobics, where he helped applicants overcome their food phobias.

Dr Ranj’s statement sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics at This Morning and highlights the importance of addressing workplace culture and wellbeing in the television industry. The resurfacing of the photo with Phillip Schofield’s ex-lover serves as a catalyst for discussions about the treatment of staff and the need for transparency and accountability.
