Elizabeth Lynch, the 2022 Miss West Virginia winner, ended up as the third runner-up in the 2023 Miss America pageant.

The Miss America Organization has now significantly changed to more than just looks. Due to this platform, participants and winners have had the opportunity to advocate for social issues. Participants and winners, such as Lynch, have been using the platform to empower and influence communities.

Who is Elizabeth Lynch?

Elizabeth Lynch, a native of West Virginia, had a fantastic performance in the Miss America 2023 competition, coming in as the third runner-up. Lynch, a Martinsburg, West Virginia born, was undoubtedly among the best on this list.

Lynch has a master’s degree in food and nutritional science from West Virginia University and a summa cum laude graduate from Delaware State University. Her impressive educational background has only surpassed her desire to effect change. Growing Up, Growing Ag: Advocating for Appalachian Agriculture was the name of the social impact initiative she oversaw to raise agricultural awareness.

For the talent portion, Lynch did a motivational monologue on her social impact initiative. She said it comes naturally. “Creating a social impact initiative around American and Appalachian agriculture was super easy for me to do,” according to Lynch. “Everyone has been very excited about the fact that I’m supporting and talking about a group of people that never really get to be in the spotlight.”, she added.

Lynch not only has outstanding academic credentials, but is also a D1 equestrian athlete, a Presidential Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Athletic Honors Society. Even an Evelyn Talbott Memorial Award for Outstanding Community Service was given to her in appreciation of her efforts.

Lynch also received the Dr. Donald J. Horvath Memorial Scholarship Award from WVU for her commitment to pursuing a career in academics and agricultural research, as well as the “Circle of Hearts” Miana Steward Memorial Award for her work with Horses with Hearts.

Lynch also won a number of scholarships on her way to vying for the Miss America crown. She reviewed scholarships for academic excellence, STEM, general private interviews, and overall social impact pitch/on-stage questions, according to her page in Miss America 2023.
