Evgenia Citkowitz is an author best known for her debut novella The Shades. Her husband since 1990, A Room With a View actor Julian Sands, was reported missing while hiking in Mount Baldy, in California‘s San Bernardino County.
The San Bernardino County sheriff’s office has said the actor’s family reported him missing since Tuesday, January 17.

It was only later on Wednesday that he was identified as missing from Mount Baldy. The high winds and ice have made Mount Baldy a danger zone for hikers and the sheriff’s department had issued a warning asking hikers to not take the route at this time.
A search and rescue operation for the actor is on, along with a separate search for another man named Bob Gregory, who also went missing from the area around the same time.

Multiple outlets are reporting that two hikers have died in the past week while hiking on Mount Baldy.

She debuted with the novel The Shades, a novella published by Farrar Straus and Giroux. Her writing has been published in a number of British journals, including The Sunday Times and London Magazine.
She was one of the winners of The Word Factory’s Neil Gaiman, Fables for a Modern World story competition and was on the long list for The Sunday Times EFG Private Bank short story award.
