Fetty Wap, a rapper, pleaded guilty Monday to a narcotics conspiracy charge that carries a mandatory five-year jail sentence.

The plea was made in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven Locke in Central Islip, Long Island, after his bond was revoked and he was arrested two weeks ago. There was no immediate sentence date set.

Who is Fetty Wap?

Willie Junior Maxwell II, 31, who goes by the stage name Fetty Wap, is a rapper and singer from the United States. In May 2015, his debut track Trap Queen peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. This aided Fetty Wap in landing a record deal with 300 Entertainment.

The track was followed by two top ten successes in the United States, 679 (with Remy Boyz) and My Way (remixed featuring Drake). All three tracks were on Fetty Wap’s self-titled debut album, which was released in September 2015 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.

Maxwell was born in Paterson, New Jersey, and was raised there. Maxwell, who was born with glaucoma in both eyes, disclosed in a 2015 interview that surgeons were unable to save his left eye and had to replace it with an ocular prosthesis. He went to Eastside High School before dropping school to pursue a music career.

Fetty Wap has six children with five different women.

Fetty Wap was named the father of model Alexis Skyy’s kid Alaiya in early 2018. Fetty Wap officially announced in 2019 that he is not Alaiya’s biological father but remains a father figure to her. Brandon Medford was discovered to be Alaiya’s biological father in December 2020.

Fetty Wap participated on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’s third season, which highlighted his troubled relationship with Masika. He also appeared on Love & Hip Hop: New York’s ninth season, which highlighted his complicated relationship with Alexis Skyy.

Fetty Wap married model Leandra K. Gonzalez in private in September 2019. Fetty Wap and Gonzalez divorced one year later.

Lauren, Fetty Wap’s four-year-old daughter, died in July 2021. According to TMZ, her death certificate said that she died as a result of problems from a congenital heart arrhythmia, however, her mother Turquoise Miami stated on Instagram in August 2021 that Lauren’s cause of death had not yet been determined.

Throughout the years, Fetty Wap has been sued for a variety of reasons, including copyright infringement, defamation, property damage, and assault.

On November 2, 2017,  he was arrested after being pulled over on a Brooklyn roadway. He was then charged with drunk driving, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, changing lanes improperly, and drag racing.

Fetty Wap was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess dangerous drugs in a federal indictment released on October 29, 2021. He was caught at CitiField and pleaded not guilty in a New York court to federal narcotics allegations.

On November 5, 2021, Fetty Wap was released on a $500,000 bail. On August 8, 2022, he was arrested again for violating the terms of his pretrial release. On August 22, 2022, he entered a guilty plea to his narcotics charges and could face up to 5 years in jail.
