French actor Gaspard Ulliel died on Wednesday after a skiing accident in the Alps. He was 37.

Ulliel was hospitalized on Tuesday after the accident in the Savoie region’s Rosiere ski area. He reportedly sustained a major brain injury in the accident. 

He is best known for his portrayal of the young Hannibal Lecter in 2007’s “Hannibal Rising.” Ulliel also played fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 biopic “Saint Laurent.” He will be seen in the upcoming Marvel series “Moon Knight.”

Ulliel was also the advertising face of the Chanel men’s fragrance Bleu de Chanel. 

The House of Chanel said in a statement it has lost its “ambassador of 12 years and a friend.”

“We have been fortunate to have had by our side all these years a person endowed with great culture, an immense talent, and of unparalleled kindness. He will be sorely missed,” Chanel said.

He is survived by his partner Gaelle Pietri and a 6-year-old son.

Who is Gaelle Pietri?

Gaëlle Piétri has been modelling for over 15 years. She participated in a modeling contest in Corsica and went to Paris where she signed a deal with Elite International and began modeling for big brands like Garnier. 

Due to her frequent travel, she had to drop out of college and began modeling full-time. She went on to feature in magazine fashion shoots and also several television advertisements for brands such as Carte Noire coffee, and Bourjois mascara. 

Gaspard Ulliel and Piétri confirmed their relationship in 2013. On November 9, 2015, they announced that they were expecting their first child together and on February 9, 2016, they announced the birth of their son named Orso.
