Famous Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya has been charged with harassment, stalking, and voyeurism in a 2020 case filed by a co-dancer. Mumbai police recently filed a charge sheet in the metropolitan magistrate court located in Andheri.

The assistant choreographer, in her complaint, alleged that the 50-year-old had been harassing her after she turned down his sexual advances.

She said that in May 2019, he allegedly told her that if she wanted to succeed in the field, she would have to have sex with him. Six months after she refused, the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association terminated her membership.

She alleged that Acharya abused her and his assistants assaulted her.

“The female assistants beat me up, abused me and defamed me after which I went to the police who refused to lodge a complaint and merely registered a non-cognisable case. Then I contacted a lawyer to take the matter further,” the woman said in the complaint.
