Atlanta rapper Gunna was released from prison on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, seven months after he was arrested on racketeering charges. He pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the YSL RICO case. The 29-year-old was sentenced to five years, with one year commuted for the time he’s already been in jail.
The remaining four-year balance on his sentence has been suspended and will be subject to special terms and conditions including 500 hours of community service, and communicating with young people about the hazards and immorality of gangs and gang violence. He is not allowed to keep a gun during the term of his sentence.

Who is Gunna?
Gunna or Sergio Giavanni Kitchens is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and fashion influencer. He was born on June 14, 1993, in College Park, Georgia.
Gunna is signed to Young Thug’s record label YSL Records, as well as with 300 Entertainment and Atlantic Records. The 29-year-old rapper rose to fame after he was featured on Young Thug’s song Floyd Mayweather alongside Gucci Mane and Travis Scott.

The single track reached number 41 on Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop chart and was enough to propel Gunna to relative fame.
Gunna was raised by his mother and has four elder brothers. He attended North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences and Langston Hughes High School. He started making music at age 15 and released the mixtape Hard Body under the name Yung Serg in 2013.

He was introduced to fellow rapper Young Thug by Keith “King” Troup, a mutual friend and community figure who died in December 2015. Gunna’s best-known albums include Drip Season 3, Drip Harder, and the chart-topping Drip or Drown 2.

In 2016, Gunna released the Drip Season mixtape, with Drip Season 2 and 3 following shortly after, featuring Young Thug, NAV, Lil Baby, and Lil Uzi Vert. The same year, his joint mixtape, Drip Harder with Lil Baby was released with songs landing them in the Hot 100 and rap charts. He also provided vocals for Travis Scott’s Yosemite, making an appearance in Scott’s Nabil-directed video.

The rapper hit the Billboard 200 for the first time with his first arrival of 2018, Drip Season 3, which featured Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and Metro Boomin and landed a spot on the charts. He has released three studio albums – Drip or Down 2, Wunna, and DS4Ever.
