Actor Gwyneth Paltrow will appear on ABC network’s Shark Tank US as a guest judge, the show has announced. The 50-year-old is a successful entrepreneur herself and will look to fund businesses on the show, and with a successful investment in Goop, a money-minting venture, all eyes will be on whether she decides to place a bet on any of the contestants on the show. 

“We’re in awe of the business that @GwynethPaltrow has built! Find out if she makes any #SharkTank deals, Friday at 8/7c on ABC! Stream on Hulu,” Shark Tank tweeted sharing a video of Paltrow talking about her journey as an entrepreneur.

Who is Gwyneth Paltrow? 

Gwyneth Kate Paltrow was born on September 27, 1972, in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is actor Blythe Danner and her father is producer-director, Bruce Paltrow. Paltrow was raised in an affluent household and attended the Crossroads School in Santa Monica. She later studied Art History at the University of California but decided to drop out to pursue a career in acting.

Since her debut in High, a 1989 TV film directed by her father, Paltrow has acted in numerous movies which saw her win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and also a Primetime Emmy. 

Aside from her acting career, Paltrow is also successful as an entrepreneur. Paltrow began publishing the weekly lifestyle email Goop in September 2008 with the message “nourish the inner aspect.” Goop has grown to become a web-based business called Goop.com. Goop has grown to include e-commerce, partnerships with fashion companies, pop-up shops, a health summit, a print magazine, a podcast, and a Netflix documentary series.

However, in spite of its success, the brand has faced criticism for promoting pseudoscience and engaging in deceptive marketing.

It was revealed in January 2021 that Paltrow had invested in Thirteen Lune early on. This e-commerce platform specializes in beauty, skincare, haircare, and wellness items made by ally brands and people of color.
