Actor Richard Belzer allegedly died suddenly, leaving his friends, admirers, and family devastated. The actor, 78, was well-known for his work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Homicide: Life on the Street, among others.

High-profile colleagues, such as Jon Stewart, Marc Maron, and Julie Martin, an SVU producer, have verified Belzer’s passing but his reps and relatives have not yet released statements regarding it.

Before getting married to actress and model Harlee McBride in 1985, Belzer had already gone through two divorces. He is now survived by his wife McBride and two stepdaughters.

Who is Harlee McBride?

Harlee McBride is a former actress and producer from the United States. Her most well-known roles include Dr. Alyssa Dryer in Homicide: Life on the Street and Cynthia Chatterley in Young Lady Chatterley and Young Lady Chatterley II.

Since 1985, she has been married to Richard Belzer. Her two daughters, Jessica Erin Benton and Shannon Bree Benton were born during her former marriage to Garth Benton.

Richard Belzer first married Gail Susan Ross in 1966, but the couple separated in 1972. He married Dalia Danoch, a manager of a shop, four years later, in 1976. The couple also split and got divorced shortly after they had been married for two years.

Belzer finally met the stunning actress Harlee McBride in 1981, and the two eventually got together. At the time, Mcbride was 31 years old, divorced, and with two kids, Bree and Jessica.  They had a small wedding ceremony four years later, in 1985.

Four years prior, McBride was featured in Playboy magazine as part of an article on sex in movies. At the time, McBride also worked as an actor in free theatre and appeared in Ford TV ads. She met Belzer in Los Angeles at the suggestion of a friend.

The two were in a blissful marriage since 1985 and were happily together for more than 40 years until his passing.
