HyunA and Dawn, the couple, who have been together since 2016, made the announcement that they were parting ways on November 30, 2022. HyunA shared a photo on Instagram “We broke up. We decided to remain as good friends and colleagues. Thank you always for your support and for looking over us kindly.”

This past August, HyunA, and Dawn both left P Nation. The couple posted pictures of engagement rings on social media, which led to earlier engagement rumours.

Who is HyunA?

Kim Hyun-ah, born on June 6, 1992, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper, and model better known by the stage name Hyuna, stylized HyunA. In February 2007, she made her debut as a member of the girl group Wonder Girls. Hyuna eventually left JYP Entertainment and joined the female group 4Minute, which is under Cube Entertainment, after departing the group shortly after.

The girl group 4Minute made their debut in June 2009 and went on to become one of the most well-known in the nation. Hyuna launched a solo career in 2010 with a sound she dubbed “performance-oriented music.” Her solo debut song, Change, peaked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart in South Korea.

The launch of Hyuna’s debut extended play, Bubble Pop!, in 2011 helped her become more well-known to the general public. She became the first female K-pop solo artist to reach 100 million views on a single music video on YouTube after the title track sold more than three million digital copies. Later that year, she and former Beast member Hyunseung created the combo Trouble Maker and released the smash single Trouble Maker.

She participated in a well-received duet performance of Psy’s international breakthrough song Gangnam Style in 2012, and she later released her second extended play, Melting, which included the top-charting song Ice Cream.  The popular singles Red and Roll Deep came from her following two extended plays, A Talk and A+, respectively.

She released her fifth extended play, A’wesome, after 4Minute split up in the middle of 2016, and her debut concert tour, The Queen’s Back, served as its promotional support. Before releasing her sixth extended play Following in 2017, she collaborated with Pentagon members Hui and E’Dawn as the trio Triple H.

After multiple internal disputes, Hyuna terminated her contract with Cube Entertainment in 2018, and the following year she joined Psy’s P Nation. Her eighth top-ten entry on the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales was achieved with Flower Shower, her debut digital song for P Nation. I’m Not Cool, Hyuna’s seventh extended play was published in 2021.

In a message that she shared on Instagram on November 28, 2019, Hyuna discussed her health condition. She admitted that she received a diagnosis of depression and panic disorder in 2016.

On August 2, 2018, Hyuna stated that since May 2016, she has been dating Pentagon employee E’Dawn. On February 3, 2022, the couple posted an Instagram announcement that they were getting engaged. Hyuna announced the couple’s breakup on her Instagram page in November 2022.
