Conservatives blasted Miller Lite for being “woke” after a recent commercial in which the beer brand addressed its previous representation of women in commercials. This ad features actress and comedian Ilana Glazer as part of its Women’s History Month campaign. Recently, the video has resurfaced on social media, with conservatives associating the company’s support of feminism with wokeness.

Who is Ilana Glazer?

Ilana Glazer is an American actress, comedian, filmmaker, producer, and writer. Together with Abbi Jacobson, she co-created and acted in the Comedy Central series Broad City, which was adapted from the web series of the same name.

In the 2013 independent drama How to Follow Strangers, Glazer played the lead role. The Lower East Side Film Festival awarded the movie its top honor. In the 2017 comedy Rough Night, Glazer appeared opposite Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon. False Positive, a horror movie starring Glazer debuted on Hulu on June 25, 2021. Glazer also starred in the Apple TV+ mystery comedy series The Afterparty in 2022.

In January 2020, Glazer debuted her stand-up comedy special, The Planet Is Burning. She also served as a producer for the Broadway production of A Strange Loop, which earned her the 2022 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Sandi and Larry Glazer, who both work in the insurance and banking industries, are the parents of Ilana. Eliot Glazer, who plays her brother in the television series Broad City and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, is her brother in real life too, and also a producer, writer, and actor.

In a private ceremony in February 2017, Glazer wed her long-term partner, computational scientist David Rooklin. Glazer, who identifies as queer, claims that working on Broad City helped her come to terms with her sexuality. Glazer and Rooklin shared their pregnancy news on social media and at a magazine picture session on March 17, 2021. A daughter, their first child, was born in July 2021.
