Evan Rachel Wood is being trolled on social media after her ex-boyfriend Marilyn Manson’s former girlfriend, who had accused him of rape and abuse, backed away from the allegations. Ashley Smithline, in a declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, said that she was manipulated by the actor.
Smithline claimed that her allegations against Manson were not true and she was pressurized by Wood, who also accused the shock rocker.
Manson has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor multiple times in the 1990s. He has also been accused of sexual misconduct around 2010.
“I succumbed to pressure from Evan Rachel Wood and her associates to make accusations of rape and assault against Mr. Warner that were not true,” Smithline wrote. “Eventually, I started to believe that what I was repeatedly told happened to Ms. Wood and [others] also happened to me.”
Manson sued Wood and her girlfriend Illma Gore for defamation over ‘malicious’ and ‘false’ sexual abuse allegations. The Westwood actor’s partner denied the accusations.
