A fundraiser set up for Jacob Lewis, a Taylor Swift fan who was killed in a road accident after a concert has already raised over $100K.
The GoFundMe page was set up just a day ago by Miguel Andrade on behalf of Steve Lewis. Although it had an initial target of $75,000, it has already crossed the target and is currently at $105,795, at the time of writing this article.”As the Pokémon Community of Houston, we are raising funds in honor of Jacob Lewis. He is the son of Steve Lewis, a prominent leader within the Houston Pokémon scene,” the bio on the page reads.

Who was Jacob Lewis?

Jacob Lewis was a 20-year-old Taylor Swift fan who was attending his Taylor’s Eras Tour concert on Saturday in Houston. While returning from the concert, he and his sister, April were traveling in a car that broke down in the middle of the highway. Jacob got out to push the vehicle, and that is when he was struck by another incoming vehicle, which took his life.

It was later determined that the vehicle which hit him was being driven by 34-year-old Alan Bryant Hayes, who was drunk driving at the time. Jacob died at the scene. Meanwhile, Hayes fled the scene and has presently been taken into custody.

According to the GoFundMe page, “Jacob Lewis spent many years playing the Pokemon TCG in the Houston area. He had completed the World Championships, the highest-level event, for many years. Because of this, he has inspired many others to strive for more.”

It added: “Steve is one of the trusted and knowledgeable people within Houston regarding Pokémon. A true leader of the community. It hurts us to see him suffer such a loss. We only wish to help him honor the memory of his son by raising money for flowers and funeral costs. That his Pokémon family is here to help.”
The GoFundMe page was set up to help the family cover funeral expenses. Many people have chosen to contribute $13 because Swift fans know that it is Taylor’s lucky number.
