WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett left the organisation after Triple H was named Head of Creative. Also known as  Double-J, the wrestler has been overseeing the organization’s live event production and management after being named Senior Vice President of Live Events in May 2022. 

This comes after CEO Vince McMahon announced his retirement on July 22, 2022, as the CEO and chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment. The move came after the Wall Street Journal reported that over the previous 16 years, the 77-year-old alleged paid more than $12 million to bury sexual misbehaviour charges and infidelity.

Who is Jeff Jarrett?

Jeffrey Leonard Jarrett is an American professional wrestler and promoter.  Born in Hendersonville, Tennessee, Jarrett got into basketball when he was a high school student. In 1986,he started working as a referee for his father Jerry Jarrett’s Continental Wrestling Association, where he also received wrestling instruction from Tojo Yamamoto.

Jarrett began his professional wrestling career in 1986 while at the CWA, but it wasn’t until 1992, that he made his World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) debut as a country music star. He moved between the WWF and its primary rival, the World Championship Wrestling, for the next nine years. Jarrett joined the nascent World Wrestling All-Stars (WWA) company after the WWF acquired the WCW in 2001.

Together with his father, Jarrett formed NWA: Total Nonstop Action (NWA-TNA) in 2002, now known as Impact Wrestling. In 2014, Jarrett left the organisation and started Global Force Wrestling (GFW). He severed his affiliations with TNA after the merger of TNA and GFW failed.

The decision to induct him in WWE Hall of Fame in 2018 was met with widespread surprise, given his other ventures in the world of wrestling entertainment. It was revealed on July 30, 2021, that Jarrett had discreetly left WWE in January.

On the January 21, 2022, edition of SmackDown, Jarrett made a cameo appearance in the WWE. He shared a backstage scene with Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura. Soon after, there were reports that Jarrett had returned to the WWE in May 2022 and had been made the senior vice president of live events for the company. Jarrett officiated the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship bout between the Usos and the Street Profits at SummerSlam in July 2022 as a special guest referee. In August 2022, he left the WWE once more.

Third-generation wrestler Jarrett has held over 80 titles throughout the course of his career, including the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship, the AAA Mega Championship, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWA World Heavyweight Championship (twice). In 2015, he was admitted to the TNA Hall of Fame, and in 2018, the WWE Hall of Fame.

The 55-year-old has made numerous small cameos in movies, television and music videos. In 2021, he started the podcast, Mt World with Jeff Jarrett which he hosts with Conrad Thompson.
