Jennifer Anne Garner is an American actress. Although she was born in Houstan Texas, she was brought up mostly in Charleston, West Virginia by her parents Patricia Ann and William John Garner. She is the second of three children. According to her, being the middle child meant that she would put in great effort to stand out from her accomplished older sister.

While Garner initially attended Denison University in Ohio in 1990 as a chemistry major, she made the switch to theatre later on. By 1994, she had graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre. She moved to New York City in 1995 to pursue a career in acting and to earn a living, worked as a hostess. Garner made her first on-screen appearance in the mini-series,  ‘Zoya.’ During her stint in New York, she acted took on a couple of other small roles before finally moving to Los Angeles in 1997.

Garner landed her first lead role in the direct to television movie, ‘Rose Hill’ followed by a role in the comedy ‘Mr Magoo.’ While the actress did manage to find work in LA, many of the shows never made it past the first couple of episodes before being cancelled. She also met her first husband, Scott Foley in LA in 1998.

Her first big role came in 2001, where she starred in a lead role in the hit TV show, ‘Alias’ as an agency for the Central Intelligence Agency. For her roles as Sydney Bristow in ‘Alias’ she received four Emmy nominations as well as winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. By 2004, she had divorced Foley citing irreparable differences. Soon after, she began dating Ben Affleck. The two married in 2005 and went on to be married for another 10 years until 2015, when Garner divorced the Oscar winner on account of his gambling and his extra-marital affairs.
