The Witcher: Blood Origin, a prequel series, will feature The Witcher’s Joey Batey as a guest star.

The news was made on Saturday during CCXP in Brazil. In the four-part Blood Origin series, Batey will return to the role of Jaskier, who he has previously played in both of The Witcher’s seasons. The announcement was made with the release of Blood Origin’s first full trailer, which can be viewed below.

On December 25, Blood Origin will make its debut. The series is “set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of ‘The Witcher.’ It will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal conjunction of the spheres, when the world of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”

Who is Joey Batey?

An English actor, musician, singer, and songwriter is Joey Batey. His portrayal of the bard Jaskier in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher made him famous. He is also well-known for singing other songs that were included in episodes of the show in which he appeared, including Toss a Coin to Your Witcher.

He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. He has said that he has always been around music and that he was raised in a “musical family.” He received his education at Robinson College in Cambridge as well as the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School. With Alex Owen, Ben Ashenden, and other members of the comedy troupe The Pin, he co-wrote and performed the humorous sketch show Good Clean Men while a student at Cambridge.

In 2013, Batey made his acting debut in the Geoffrey Sax-directed British thriller Murder on the Home Front. He had an appearance in Lone Scherfig’s 2014 film The Riot Club. He was given the role of Eddie in the 2017 film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool by Paul McGuigan. Along with Strike and In The Dark, Batey also appeared in the British TV series. In the historical drama Knightfall, which is set in the 14th century and centres on the Knights Templar, he had an appearance in 2017–2018 as Pierre, a spy searching for information about the Holy Grail.

In the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, which is based on the same-named Polish novel series, Batey was still portraying the bard, Jaskier, as of 2021.

The Amazing Devil is an independent folk band led by Batey, who also serves as the group’s principal lyricist and composer. The Horror and the Wild and Love Run are two of the band’s three albums. On October 31, 2021, their most recent album, Ruin, was released.

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, The Fishmonger’s Daughter, and Her Sweet Kiss, as well as Burn Butcher Burn, Whoreson Prison Blues, and The Golden One, the latter of which appeared in the second season of the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, are just a few of the songs that Batey has sung.
