In their combined opening monologue for Saturday Night Live, Steve Martin and Martin Short gave it their all, reading each other’s eulogies and shocking the audience with Selena Gomez‘s surprise appearance.
The December 10 episode of Saturday Night Live marked Martin’s 16th time hosting the programme and Short’s third. Before digging into one other’s eulogies, the comedians took a moment to reflect on previous hosting duties.
Who is Martin Short?
Martin Short is a versatile actor and comedian known for his work on stage, screen, and television. Born on March 26, 1950, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Short grew up in a working-class family and attended Westdale Secondary School.
After completing high school, Short attended the University of Windsor where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in social work. However, he quickly realized that his true passion was in the performing arts and decided to pursue a career in acting.
Short made his Broadway debut in the 1980s in the hit musical Little Me and went on to star in several other productions, including The Goodbye Girl and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. Jack and Joe, the couple’s two children, call Short their uncle. Since then, Bob Dolman and Andrea Martin got divorced (2004). Short is the first cousin of Clare Short, a former British cabinet minister and member of the British Parliament.
