Sir Tow Mater is one of the main characters of the Cars franchise. Now he will be seen along with Lightning McQueen in the upcoming American animated series Cars on the Road which is set to premiere on September 8.

This series is produced by Marc Sondheimer that consists of nine episodes and it features Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater as the leads who are on a cross-country road trip to attend the wedding of Mater’s sister. 

Who is Mater Head?

Mater’s design is an anthropomorphic talking car based on a 1955-57 Chevrolet Task Force Truck that was earlier used to lift equipment from mine shafts in Cherokee County, Kansas.  

Tow Mater has a high-pitched thick rural Southern accent and he frequently misspells words. 

Tow Mater’s signature catchphrase is “Dad gum!”, “If I’m lyin”, “I’m cryin’!” and “Git-R-Done!”

He is a brown car with hazel eyes and orange inner rims and he has large crooked buck teeth. He has also been the protagonist in Cars Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales and Cars 2 and the character was voiced by Daniel Lawrence Whitney. 

Tow Mater is optimistic but also at times forgetful. He is very kind and has unconditional love for others. Being sensitive, he just wants to make true friendships with other people because he has been constantly and harshly abused by Bubba in the past.

He is the best friend of Lightning McQueen and is a very selfless and loyal person, especially towards those closest to him.

In the film Cars 2, he was also seen putting his own life in danger to save his friends from being blown away by the c4 Bomb on his engine. 

Tow Mater is very energetic and has a horsepower of 200 when he is on a good day. He has got a V-8 engine and drives with a speed of 90 mph.  He can drive backwards at an incredible speed without crashing into other objects and Mater is also skilled in karate.
