Michael Che is the head writer of Saturday Night Live and an American stand-up comedian. Born and brought up in New York City, US, he began working as a stand-up comedian in 2009. 

The American actor-comedian made an appearance in the Late Show with David Letterman. He was later listed among ‘10 comics to watch’ in 2013, while being titled one of “The 50 Funniest People” by Rolling Stone. 

While he had initially joined Saturday Live as a guest writer, he later went on to become a staff writer. He even starred in the film ‘Top Five’ along with Chris Rock. 

The latest controversy

On Friday, Michael Che took a jibe at the America Gymnastics champion Simone Biles for withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics. He has taken to his Instagram stories to joke on Simone. However, he received a massive backlash for his insensitive comments in wake of her exit due to mental health reasons. 

A Twitter user, shared his stories that he had deleted after receiving flak. 

The SNL head writer later claimed that his account was hacked. He took to instagram to say, ““maaannnn, i got hacked today. cant believe they got me. yall kno i only do jokes about whites and cops. s’all good now, i changed my password and everything..anyway, ya’ll hear about dababy tho..? thats crazy..iight. see yall at church. imma get there early.” This was in reference to the homophobic comments made by rapper DaBaby at the Rolling Loud music festival recently.
