Muni Long is not unfamiliar with the Billboard rankings or the limelight of the music industry. She has recorded two albums under her given name, Priscilla Renea, and has contributed to many popular songs by other musicians. However, the R&B performer, who had previously released music and penned popular songs for performers like Fifth Harmony, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande, relaunched her career as Muni Long in 2019.

Now that the Grammy Awards are approaching, Long is nominated for three awards: best new artist, R&B song, and R&B performance for Hrs & Hrs.

Who is Muni Long?

Muni Long or Priscilla Renea Hamilton grew up in a musical household on a farm outside of Vero Beach, Florida. Between her mother, who also sang, the household piano, music classes, performing in church, and being called up to sing at funerals and weddings, as well as the national anthem at sports events, she never had an option of not loving music.

Long used to upload recordings of her songs to YouTube when she was a teenager. Her attempt to sing dictionary terms over a Fergie song gave her a taste of viral stardom. Because of that promotion, Capitol Records offered a contract and the debut single from Dollhouse made it into the Top 40.

Her second album as Priscilla Renea, Coloured, was published in 2018 and is significantly more sincere, hitting on racism, family, and her own professional and personal experience in country music. But in 2019, she stepped it up a notch and launched her own label, Supergiant Records. She began shifting her focus from writing pop singles to writing songs she would sing herself. She released a new EP called Black Like This in November 2020 under her new alias Muni Long.
