Linnethia Monique “NeNe” Leakes is an American television personality, actress, presenter, author, and fashion designer. Born on December 13, 1967 in Queens, New York, she was raised in Athens, Georgia. The actor is popularly known to make an appearance on the reality television series The Real Housewives of Atlanta as an original cast member.

She has also had a recurring character Roz Washington on the Fox comedy-drama series Glee.

She has participated on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, while she made Broadway debut as Madame in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella in 2014.

In addition to her time in Television, Leakes had a clothing line on Home Shopping Network. She, however, later launched her SWAGG boutiques in select cities across the country.

On Wednesday, Nene Leakes lost her husband Gregg Leakes to colon cancer at the age of 66.

“Today, the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife NeNe Leakes,” the couple’s rep said in a press release.

The statement continued, “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family and allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time.”

NeNe had revealed during the weekend that her husband was losing his battle with cancer, saying, “My husband is transitioning to the other side.”

NeNe and Gregg married each other in 2011 but separated later. They remarried in 2013 and shared a 22-year-old son, Brentt

Shortly before his father’s death, Brentt had taken to Instagram to pen an emotional message that read, “Spend time with your loved ones every chance you get. Time is so…valuable dog. I can’t express it. I’m learning the hard way watching my dad fight every day. Please go create memories with ya people.”
