South Korean actor Park Hae-soo, who appeared in Netflix’s thriller Squid Game, is expected to star in the Korean adaptation of the acclaimed Spanish television series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). Park will play one of the drama’s main characters, Andrés “Berlin” de Fonollosa. 

The plot of Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part 2 will be similar to that of the Spanish original. It is directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae and is set in a world where the two Koreas are on the verge of reunification. Who is Park Hae-soo?

Park Hae-soo was born on November 21, 1981 in Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Raised in a Protestant household, he did his schooling at Bundang Jungang High School in South Korea and pursued theatre and film studies at Dakook University, Yongin, South Korea. 

In 2017, he made acquaintance with a woman whom he eventually began dating. On January 14, 2019, the couple got married in a private ceremony after almost two years of dating. His wife is a non-celebrity and is reportedly six years younger than Park. The couple was blessed with a son on September 29, 2021.

Park previously dated South Korean actress, Lim Kang-hee, during the shoot of the musical The Chorus- Oedipus (2013). The duo dated for three years before breaking up in 2016 due to irreconcilable differences in their relationship.

Park, 41, made his Broadway debut in 2007 with Mister Lobby. He also appeared in other musicals, including Angels Called Desire and Annapurna. In 2017, he won Best New Actor at The Seoul Awards for his performance as the lead actor in the drama series Prison Playbook.

Park rose to international prominence in 2021 after starring as Cho Sang-woo in the South Korean television series Squid Game. In a single day, he gained over 800,000 Instagram followers.  He also received an Emmy nomination for the role of a supporting actor in Squid Game. 

He is best known for his roles in the TV shows Prison Playbook (2017-2018), Six Flying Dragons (2015), Legends and the Blue Sea (2016) and Persona (2019). In addition, he has appeared in films such as By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture (2019), Time to Hunt (2020), and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations (2022).

Park signed with the U.S. talent agency UTA in July 2022. He is currently under contract with BH Entertainment in Korea.
