A video of a young man running on a Noida road at midnight has gone viral on social media. If you’re wondering why the run has gotten so much attention, it’s because of his interaction with filmmaker Vinod Kapri.

Kapri’s video of his run, which he posted on Twitter on Sunday evening, has already received over 4 million views. Despite being drenched in sweat, the runner declines the filmmaker’s offer to give him a ride home.

Pradeep Mehra, 19, turned down the filmmaker’s ride because he intends to join the Indian Army. He tells the filmmaker that he was on his way home from McDonald’s after finishing his shift.

The Uttarakhand boy also informs Kapri that he must rise at 8 am every day to prepare food and thus has no time to train in the morning. Every day, he runs a 10-kilometer stretch from his workplace in Noida’s Sector 16 to his home in Barola, where he lives with his elder brother.

When Kapri asks where his parents are, the boy responds that his mother is ill and in the hospital.

Kapri tweeted another video of Mehra’s run today, with the caption, “Watch #PradeepMehra’s 20-second SPRINT to lift your Monday SPIRITS.”

After the video went viral on social media, the filmmaker returned to the McDonald’s location and reconnected with the 19-year-old. He told Mehra about the outpouring of affection he was receiving from everyone.
