CJ Harris, who rose to fame on American Idol, died last week after being admitted to the hospital with what appeared to be a heart attack. He was 31 years old. 

According to a family member, the star was rushed to a local hospital on Sunday night but did not survive.

The talented singer rose to prominence after auditioning for FOX’s American Idol in 2014 and wowing the judges with a rousing rendition of Allman Brothers Band’s Soulshine.

Who is Stephanie Enis, CJ Harris’ mother? 

Stephanie Enis was American Idol singer CJ Harris’s mother. His father’s identity is unknown. 

In 2014, Enis was funded by Chef Troy’s local restaurant ‘Talk of the Town Restaurant’ and a car wash in Jasper to watch her son perform in Los Angeles.

“I told her we’d be glad to get the next ticket so we can see C.J. advance to the next round, and if there’s anything we can do for them, we’d like to do that,” the restaurant owner said, according to Fox.

Enis expressed gratitude for all of the community’s support, as per Fox.

CJ Harris, Enis’ son, died in 2023 at the age of 31. The artist had a heart attack and was taken by ambulance to the Walker Baptist Medical Center in his hometown of Jasper, Alabama. According to TMZ, the crooner, whose full name is Curtis ‘CJ’ Harris, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the emergency room.

In 2014, the singer appeared on the reality show and made it to the top six. He later became friends with Darius Rucker, who later became his mentor. He auditioned first in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and then in Salt Lake City, Utah. Harris wowed the judges with his rendition of the Allman Brothers Band’s classic hit song Soulshine.
