Rapper Tory Lanez has been found guilty of shooting music superstar Megan Thee Stallion in both feet during an alcohol-fueled curbside confrontation in the predawn hours of July 12, 2020.

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated before convicting the 30-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson. He was charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The counts could lead to up to 22 years in prison.

Who is Tory Lanez?

Lanez is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to
fame with the mixtape, Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story released in 2013. In
2015, he was signed with Benny Blanco’s Mad Love Records. This was made
possible through Interscope Records. He released his first studio album I Told
You in 2016. The album included hit songs like Say It and Luv, which went on to
be ranked on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tony
Lanez was born on July 27, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. His birth name
is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson. He is also known as Argentina Fargo and
Swavey Fargo. Daystar’s nickname Lanez was given to him by his friend Hakeem.
His mother died due to an unknown illness when he was very young. His father
then became an ordained minister and missionary.

the age of 16, he dropped out of the tenth grade and started performing songs
at outdoor concerts. However, he had never received any vocal training.

Lanez
released his next two albums in 2018 titled, Memories Don’t Die and Love Me
Now. In 2019, he released his fourth album, Chixtape, which was ranked number
two on the US Billboard 200 chart. Lanez released his fifth album in 2020. He
was also featured on the US Billboard 200 at number 10. He has been a recipient
of several awards and nominations.
