Deverakonda Vijay Sai better known as Vijay Deverakonda, is an Indian actor and film producer who primarily works in Telugu cinema.

Deverakonda made his acting debut in Ravi Babu’s romantic comedy Nuvvila . He later played a minor role in Sekhar Kammula’s Life is Beautiful.

Deverakonda was born to Govardhan Rao and Madhavi in Telangana. His ancestors are from Thummanpeta village in the former Mahbubnagar district. His father was a small-time television serial director who gave up due to a lack of success. Deverakonda attended Puttaparthi’s Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School (a boarding school) until the tenth grade. He is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate. Anand, his younger brother, is also an actor.

Pelli Choopulu, a romantic coming-of-age film directed by Tharun Bhascker, was Deverakonda’s first lead role. At the 64th National Film Awards, the film won Best Feature Film in Telugu as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu.

In 2017, he appeared in the masala film Dwaraka. His next film, Arjun Reddy, received both praise and criticism for being both daring and radical.

Vijay’s portrayal of a self-destructive, short-tempered, and alcoholic surgeon earned him critical acclaim and awards such as the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. Deverakonda’s performance in Arjun Reddy was named one of the “100 Greatest Performances of the Decade” by Film Companion in 2019.

He is all set to appear in Liger, alongside Ananya Pandey. 

Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular MMA fighter boxer, with Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy, and Ramya Krishna also playing important roles. Mike Tyson, the American boxer, appears in an extended cameo, making his acting debut in Indian cinema.

Vijay and Ananya will appear on Koffee with Karan season 7’s fourth episode to promote Liger. In the promo which was released on July 26, the actor revealed why he keeps his relationship private and his thoughts on being Sara Ali Khan‘s “cheese’.
