Tollywood actor Vishnu Manchu , son of senior actor Mohan Babu, was elected as the new president of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), defeating Prakash Raj by a huge margin of 106 votes, after a bitter and heated campaign for the polls.

MAA election officer Krishna Mohan announced the poll results on Sunday night after the polling. Vishnu polled 380 votes while Prakash Raj, who was branded as non-local by some supporters of the rival panel, secured 274 votes, reports the News Minute.
Prakash Raj is a native of Karnataka and predominantly acts in Telugu and other south Indian films.

The counting of votes began after 4 pm. The first result went in favor of the Prakash Raj panel when Shia Reddy was elected as an executive member. This was followed by three more victories for the panel as Anasuya, Kaushik, and Suresh Kondeti were also elected as executive members.
From the Vishnu panel, Poojitha, Shashank, Jayavani, UP Srinivasulu, Srilakshmi, Manik, Harinath Babu, and Vishnu Boppana were elected as executive members.
Manchu Vishnu is an Indian actor and producer known for his works in Telugu cinema and television. Manchu had a brief stint as a child artist with the 1985 film Ragile Gundelu. Years later, he starred in the 2003 Telugu action film Vishnu, for which he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut.
He is the co-owner of the film production house 24 Frames Factory and is an educationalist through Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust, founded by his father and veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu.
He is a founder and chairman of New York Academy, a school in Hyderabad for which his wife, Viranica, is the director and his father Mohan Babu, is the chair person.
In 2007, he starred in the comedy film Dhee, which became a hit, and Manchu established his career in Telugu cinema. Manchu is one of the sponsors of the Celebrity Cricket League Telugu Warriors.[9][10][11]
