Yohani is a Sri Lankan singer-songwriter, rapper and music composer who started her career as a YouTuber. She got international recognition by her hit song ‘Manike Mage Hithe’. She released many covers of her singing and rapping which has earned her the title “Rap Princess” of Sri Lanka.

Yohani Diloka De Silva was born on July 30, 1993 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is the daughter of war veteran, ex-Army officer, Major General Prasanna De Silva and his wife is an ex-air hostess at SriLankan Airlines. She has one younger sister, Shavindri De Silva, who is currently studying medicine to pursue her passion as a doctor. Due to their father’s military position, both girls grew up in various places including Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

According to reports, she completed her primary education at Visakha Vidyalaya. After that she moved to London for her higher studies. Later, she came to India and earned her bachelor’s degree in the field of Logistics Management from Sir John Kotelwala Defence University.

Yohani started her musical career by uploading cover videos on her YouTube channel. Her first album came with The Pettah Effect Label. Her first Rendezvous concert was held in June 2019. 

She did a number of shows in the middle of 2019 and performed along with Lunu band. 

Yohani performed with the Lunu band in their second concert. She got selected to compete in the Red Bull event. Yohani signed with Red Bull Records for a single a few months later and debuted with The ‘Aaye’ Song, where she explained how she got into the music industry in 2020.

The second is Sitha Dawuna, collaborating with Chamath Sangeetha. Yohani came into limelight after her song ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ went viral on the internet. Not only this, but famous Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan also shared an edited video from his movie Kaalia, in which he is grooving to Yohani’s hit song.
