In 1964, DeSalvo was arrested for a series of sexual assaults in the Boston area, which led to his confession of the Boston Strangler murders.
DeSalvo’s confession has been the subject of controversy, with some questioning the validity of his statements. Despite this, he was found guilty of the unrelated crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was later murdered in prison in 1973, under mysterious circumstances.
