Stephen Boss, who appeared on the famed talk show The Ellen DeGeneres show has passed away. The late DJ has reportedly died of suicide. He was 40 at the time.
His wife Allison Holker reported to the LAPD station on Tuesday that Boss had left the house without his car, which was very unlikely of him.
The police received a call from an L.A. hotel, where they found Boss, who had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Who was DJ Stephen Boss?
Boss, a dancer, choreographer and a television producer, was born on September 29, 1982.
He graduated from Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and proceeded to study Dance Performance at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama, and Chapman University.
Boss began his career in 2003 at MTV’s The Wade Robson Project, where he finished as a semifinalist. He went on to participate in talent competition Star Search and ended as a runner up.
Boss has choreographed for South Korean pop/R&B singer Seven and YG Entertainment’s Big Bang.
Boss was a participant of American dance show So You Think You Can Dance and was featured on the show multiple times.
He made his breakthrough feature on the Ellen DeGeneres show as a guest DJ on April 1, 2014, after which he appeared on the show regularly. On August 17, 2020, DeGeneres made Boss the Executive producer of her talk show.
On October 1, 2014, he was announced as the cast member of Magic Mike XXL, a 2015 comedy drama, alongside Channing Tanum.
The late dancer was the part of dance groups Breed OCLA and Chill Factor Crew.
In terms of his personal life, Boss was married to Allison Holker, also a former participant at So You Think You Can Dance. The two wed Nigel Lythgoe’s Villa San Juliette Vineyard and Winery in Paso Robles, California.
Boss adopted Holker’s daughter Weslie Renae Boss. The couple had two children through their marriage- son Maddox Laurel Boss and daughter Zaia Boss.
Boss’s life was cut short on December 14, 2022, as the actor died of suicide.
