British actor Helen McCrory has died after a %u201Cheroic battle with cancer%u201D at the age of 52, her husband Damian Lewis confirmed on Twitter on Friday. The actor was best known for iconic role as Polly Gray in the British television show Peaky Blinders.
%u201CI%u2019m heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefulle at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,%u201D Lewis wrote in the post.
%u201CShe died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now Little One, into the air, and thank you,%u201D he added.
McCrory was born to a Welsh mother and Scottish-born father in London on August 17, 1968. The eldest of three children, McCrory spent a year in Italy before studying acting at London’s Drama Centre.

She made her stage debut with %u2018The Importance of Being Earnest%u2019 in the year 1990. She was also nominated for an Olivier Award for her performace as Rosalind in %u2018As You Like It%u2019.
She portrayed Cherir Blair in two films – The Queen (2006) and The Special Relationship (2010). She also played the role of Narcissa Malfoy in the last three Harry Potter films, apart from appearing in the 2012 James Bond film %u2018Skyfall%u2019 and Martin Scorsese’s %u2018Hugo%u2019 (2012).
One of her most iconic roles, however, is that of Polly Gray in the hit BBC British period drama %u2018Peaky Blinders%u2019.
McCrory married Lewis in 2007, and is survived by their two children Manon and Gulliver.
