The death of her “darling boy” was confirmed by Drena, the daughter of Ragin’ Bull actor and ex-Diahnne Abbott, in a heartrending statement on July 2.

“My beautiful sweet angel . I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly,” she captioned a photo of Leandro on Instagram. “You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life . I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you . I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.”

The 51-year-old actress, who shares Leandro with artist Carlos Mare, continued in a message to her late son, “You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you. I’m so sorry my baby.”

Carlos has kept his feelings on the death private. In the wake of Leandro’s passing, he did post a blurred photograph on his Instagram page, where numerous individuals left their sympathies in the comments.

Leandro was an actor, just like his mother and grandfather. He was most notably seen with Drena in the 2018 film A Star Is Born. He portrayed the son of Dave Chappelle’s George “Noodles” Stone in the movie, who was close friends with Jackson Maine, played by Bradley Cooper.

Leandro has had acting roles in The Collection from 2005 and Cabaret Maxime from 2018, both of which both starred his mother.

More than a month after Leandro and Drena celebrated Mother’s Day, we learn of his passing. The mother-son pair spent the holiday watching the 1974 comedy Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore together, as shown in an Instagram post from May 14.

In a post titled “A Lil Bit of Leo Lil Bit of Mare,” Drena posted images of Leandro interacting with his father and the family dog. Lots of memories of my fur baby Daisy, my true partner. It was a good day today.
